Out riding with Ricky today! Few laps of Box hill followed by some Garmin lead cyclocross madness on the way home
It’s not often you’ll see Jim Hart sweating to read sheet music, but Marius Neset’s compositions occasionally had his (and consistently my) mind blown in Soho last night. Passages I’d sworn on record were double tracked flowed with only the slightest trace of effort backed by one of the finest young bands I’ve seen live. Featuring Ivo Neame (piano), Jasper Høiby (bass), Anton Eger (drums) and of course the astonishing Jim Hart (vibes). Marius Neset will be one of those names…those really big names.
Ted James is one of those guys who never does what’s expected. This year he’d been making tools to make tools to shape 953 tubes for this bonkers 29er. Sram X11 to finish it off…
A few of my highlights from Bespoked Bristol last weekend:
Cancellara’s Domane complete with Roubaix cobble markers on the Cyclefit stand was pretty special, along with a modern take on the 7/11 team Serotta and a 700g Guru frameset I think they had my favorite stand. The Winter track bike was immaculate, as you would expect, and my pal Ed’s Oak rando bike looked purposeful.
As workload goes up, blogging goes down. Just back from Bespoked Bristol (full roundup to come) but for now, here’s a snap of me an Paul. That’s right, the Paul, of Paul Components.
“Landmark: the Fields of Photography” at Somerset House brought the work of Mathieu Bernard-Reymond to my attention today. Beautiful, varied, socially aware and original. A rare combination.
